Bouncy nightstand. It bounces yay yipee!
A series of poplar bridal joints with dowels stuck through them. This hinge is kept in tension by ash veneer. It sits attached to a mitered triangular base and “features” a makeshift MDF platform.
Carbon Fiber Seat
Carbon fiber seat for RISD Astro’s Human Exploration Rover Challenge.
Positive mold was first hand sculpted out of foam and a negative was made from fiberglass epoxy. Final part is prepreg twill carbon fiber and epoxy. 2 primary layers, the first follows the twill up and down and the second is offset by 45°. One extra layer is found only at the bolsters and another layer is applied only to the circumference’s rim.
Design considerations include driver comfort and strength-to-weight optimization.
