F-35 Hotas Form Study:
Redesigning an established functional form: the control stick of the F-35 Lightning. I looked at three different forms as inspirations: quartz, a fire hydrant, and ancient coins.
The inspiration for this first set was quartz. I mimicked the angular planes using sheet material adhered to a foam foundation.
This set was inspired by a fire hydrant. I used wood dowels to emulate the round cylinders.
This final set was based off of ancient Greek coins. I copied the stamp quality of those coins through shaping of plasticine.
